Legislative Alert: Tx House Environmental Regulation Committee
will consider Environmentally friendly Bills this Tuesday!

I received several email alerts about hearings to be held this Tues. on environmentally friendly legislation ...

There is legislation imposing a two-year moratorium on permitting coal-fired power plants, so that a comprehensive Texas Energy Plan can be developed that effectively addresses the need to cut emissions causing global warming.

There are good bills to improve air quality through measures related to the State Implementation Plan (SIP.) Other bills address the standards for Best Available Control Technology (BACT), Public Notice, Cumulative Impacts and Integrated Gasification Combined Cycle as BACT. And there are bills calling for the reduction of hazards associated with mercury pollution which remains a threat to the health of our children.

From Donna Hoffman of the Lone star Chapter of the Sierra club ..

"We do need solid Legislative solutions to stop the Texas coal rush. Bills to
do just that will be heard TOMORROW, Tuesday, April 3 beginning at 8:00 am
in the Environmental Regulation Committee.

Sierra Club urges you to please take action as soon as you receive this
