SB 362 Voter ID Action Needed 3/19/09

Your action is urgently needed. Today, Texas Senate Republicans finalized their assault on our voting rights, approving the voter suppression bill, SB 362 by Sen. Troy Fraser, and sending it to our Texas House for consideration. If made law, this legislation will disenfranchise countless Texans.

Now is your crucial chance to speak out against a bad bill for all Texans:

Speaker Joe Straus has the power to decide if SB 362 is considered before the full House or dies in Committee.

Call Speaker Straus' office and tell him to reject this bill and focus the House's efforts on real priorities, like fully funding our public schools, reining in college tuition costs and giving Texans real relief on skyrocketing insurance and utility rates.

Before the full House considers SB 362, the House Committee on Elections needs to approve it.

Call the Chairman of the Elections Committee, Rep. Todd Smith, and ask him to oppose SB 362. Share the facts about how this bill will make it harder for all Texans to vote, while doing nothing to solve voter fraud.
