Would you like to testify on the Voter ID issue?

Voter ID Testimony to be heard by the Texas Senate!  Would You Like to Testify?

The full Texas Senate will hold a public hearing on the so-called "voter ID" issue next Tuesday, March 10, 2009, at the Texas Capitol in Austin .  If you are strongly interested in preserving the voting rights of all Texans, please consider attending.

SCHEDULE:

9:00 a.m.--The “Committee of the Whole” (the full Texas Senate) will convene in the Senate Chamber to hear invited testimony on Voter ID.

Midday--The Committee will reconvene to take PUBLIC TESTIMONY on Voter ID after the daily Senate Legislative Session.  This is when your voice can be heard on the Voter ID issue!

Currently, voters can participate in an election by presenting their voter registration card.  The Voter ID proposal would require voters to produce an official ID along with their voter registration card in order to cast their vote.  This legislation will create a barrier to voting that will affect the elderly and minority communities across this state.

If you can commit to testifying on Tuesday, March 10th, please email Daniel Clayton at dclayton@roycewest.org, subject matter: I WILL TESTIFY with:
