The following Collin County candidates locally filed with the Democratic Party of Collin County to seek the Democratic nomination for the following offices. The candidates' names are listed in the order that they will appear on the ballot:
On Tuesday, December 22nd a political earthquake took place when a former federal and state prosecutor, Rafael De La Garza, formally withdrew his candidate filing for the Republican nomination for Collin County District Attorney, and officially filed as a candidate for the Democratic nomination to become the Collin County District Attorney.
At the County Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday, October 27th, the Precinct Chairs in attendance approved the following appointees to the Finance Committee: Deborah Hyatt, Larry Jackson, Tomeji Miller, and DPCC Deputy Treasurer Ray Ash. The appointees will serve on the committee with DPCC Treasurer Oscar Peña, who serves as Finance Committee Chairman according to the DPCC Bylaws.

Sam Johnson represents Congressional District 3 (Most of Plano, Far North Dallas, Frisco, McKinney and parts of Allen and Richardson) and Ralph Hall represents Congressional District 4 (including the northern and eastern parts of Collin County).
At the County Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday, September 22nd, the Precinct Chairs unanimously confirmed the voting members of the DPCC Administration Committee appointed by County Chair Shawn Stevens. According to the DPCC Bylaws, Marlene Byndon, Vice Chair of the DPCC, serves as Chair of the Administration Committee. The other six voting members of the DPCC Administration Committee approved by the County Executive Committee are: Humberto Rodriguez, Kate Garrison, Shawn Ahsan, Linda Marcus, Mike Rawlins, and E. Steve Bolden, II.
Due to the success of the Ann Richards Fundraiser, our sustaining membership donors and other fundraising efforts, at the August 25th County Executive Committee meeting, the Precinct Chairs in attendance voted to completely retire the Democratic Party of Collin County's remaining debt from the $38,000+ expense of the 2008 County Convention, while maintaining viable finances.
At the County Executive Committee meeting on Tuesday, August 25th, the Precinct Chairs in attendance made some amendments to the Strategic Plan, and then passed it without objection. The Strategic Plan had been in the works for two years, and County Chair Shawn Stevens expressed gratitude to Select Committee Chairman Mike Rawlins and the other members of the Select Committee on the Strategic Plan for their work on the document, which will provide a framework of goals for the local party to work towards.
