State Democratic Executive Committee (SDEC)
The State Democratic Executive Committee (SDEC) is a special body created by the Texas Democratic Party (TDP) to effectively serve as the TDP governing body. The SDEC is chartered to “carry on the activities of the Party between State Conventions in compliance with the law and with the directives of the Convention.” (See Rules Of The Texas Democratic Party - PDF and Texas Democratic Party SDEC Members )
The SDEC is composed of elected TDP officers, one female and one male representative from each of Texas’ 31 Senate Districts (SDs), one female and one male representative from the Asian American Democrats, Coalition of Black Democrats, County Chairs Association, Democrats with Disabilities, Hispanic Caucus, Non-Urban/Ag Caucus, Stonewall Democrats, Texas Democratic Women (two female representatives), Texas Environmental Democrats and Texas Young Democrats. Democratic National Committee members also attend SDEC meetings.
When a vacancy occurs on the SDEC between the Party's state conventions, the vacancy is filled by the majority vote of the members of the SDEC. The new member shall be an eligible person of the same sex and from the same senatorial district as the vacating member. The Senatorial District Committee of the affected district shall meet to nominate a person for such position.
Collin County includes two State Senate Districts: SD 8 - map and SD 30 - map.
